We are issuing a warning about the popular social media app Snapchat. This follows a new update to the app called Snap Map. Snap Map lets users share their exact location with people on their "friends" list in real time. While location information is shared only with people on your "friends" list, that could include people you do not actually know, such as friends met on other apps and websites. We do not recommend letting your children use Snapchat until they are at least 13, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

We live in an exciting age of digital technology but must put the safety of our children first. E-safety and safe use of the internet is something that we place at the heart of our school curriculum. As always we recommend you keep an open dialogue with your children about the websites and applications they use online, and if needs be ask them to no longer use it, explaining to them the potential dangers.
